Mariano Gil || Guitar

I am an Argentine-Italian guitarist born in 1977 in Pinamar, Argentina. I began studying    music in my home town and later moved to Buenos Aires where, in 1997, I was admitted to the Advanced Guitar Studies undergraduate program at the Conservatorio Astor Piazzolla de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Under the leadership of the Maestros Vicente Elias and Javier Bravo, I graduated in 2007.
I also studied Tango and Tango arrangements with the Maestros Anibal Arias and Pino Enriquez and at the Academia Nacional del Tango. I have attended master classes and clinics by Paquito D’Rivera, Diego Schissi, Quique Sinesi y Facundo Guevara.

For my Solo Set I choose the classic Spanish guitar, with nylon strings, and play my own compositions, toying with different tunes and making use of resources as basso continuo, open strings and melodic developments within an arpeggio. The repertoire also spans World Music as well as works by Egberto Gismonti, Roland Dyens and Carlo Domeniconi to name a few.

Mariano Gil || Solo Set: I am currently promoting my solo album, “Travesia” (2016), which includes original works and where I was joined by guest artists Federico Brandalisio on flute and Gonzalo Chayle on african percussion.

PAC-2017-0116

Tango trio ensemble formed in 2012 with musicians from different strands of Folk and Tango music. We are Federico Siksnys on bandoneón (Willy González), Mariano Gil on guitar (Cuesta Arriba) and Juan Fracchi on double bass (Ariel Hernandez, Cuesta Arriba). We blend the traditions of the genre with original compositions and arrangements with a fresh perspective. Our repertoire journeys through the classics of modern and traditional Tango on original arrangements and with a hint of Anibal Troilo sound.
